Do I need to complete a Disability Discrimination Audit?

If your business premises are open to the general public then you are required by the Disability Discrimination Act to complete a Disability Discrimination Audit. The Act also removed small employer exemptions from 1 October 2004. The employer has to make reasonable adjustments to enable disabled persons to cope; this is where the Disability Discrimination Audit comes into place. The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 makes it unlawful to discriminate against current or prospective workers. Disability is defined as ‘a physical or mental handicap, especially. one that prevents a person from living a full, normal life or from holding a gainful job.’
